2024 School Visits
Kamuya — June 12, 2024
We had a heartwarming visit to the first Carson Glore School in Kamuya, which opened in 2011. This school now serves 285 learners in 8 classrooms! During our visit, we met with the dedicated Head Principal, Deputy Principal, Teachers, and Board of Members (BoM). The commitment of the parents to their children’s education was evident in the impressive exam results and the fact that 100% of the students are advancing to secondary school.
Our Build Africa partners’ vision and mission—ensuring every child is in school, learning, and equipped with the skills for a successful life—are truly coming to life here.
Kathyoli — June 12, 2024
We had the immense joy of visiting the second Carson Glore School in the Kathyoli community, which opened its doors in 2014. This school is now a vibrant learning environment for 243 students across 7 classrooms!
We were warmly welcomed by the dedicated Head Principal, Pastor, Head of the Board of Members (BoM), and Head of the Parents Committee. It was inspiring to witness their commitment and the community’s collective efforts to protect and nurture their school. The new fence they built has greatly enhanced the safety of the classrooms, water tanks, latrines, and most importantly, the students.
We are thrilled to share that over 90% of the students advanced to secondary school last year, and the goal for this year is an incredible 100%! During our visit, we enjoyed playing kickball and frisbee with the students during their breaks, making sure to limit disruptions to their valuable class time.
Kisyoni — June 13, 2024
We wrapped up our Carson Glore School visits in Kenya at Kisyoni, our third school which opened in 2015! Principal Kiamuko Tito, who’s been leading since day one, proudly shared that the school now serves 138 eager learners across 8 classrooms. The improved conditions have encouraged parents to send their children to school, and the impact is evident with 100% of students advancing to secondary education!
During our visit, we briefly encouraged the older students taking their term tests in the Dan Bunnell Family and Brian Bunnell Family classrooms, urging them to focus on their future beyond primary school. We then enjoyed some time with the 2nd graders in the Greg Kokesch classroom before heading out to the playground. Nancy impressed the students and teacher with her volleyball skills, while Kalle & Brent had a blast playing frisbee and kickball with the younger students.
